J. Malcom Yonkers Sr. started the Grand Rapids Lighting Center with a formal opening in 1970. J.M. had 44 years experience with a localElectrical Supply Co. before starting the new business. Grand Rapids Lighting was the first Lighting Center in the stateof Michigan by Thomas Industries.  After 70 years in the electrical business, on October 31st, 1995, J.M. Yonkers retired and handed over the business to John Jr. and the next generation.
